CarE records what you spend on your vehicles. It runs on a server operated by the app owner, not on a third-party platform, and it is built so that almost nothing needs to leave that server at all.

Location is read only while you are actively recording a trip, and only while that screen is open. The app keeps the total distance travelled. It does not keep the route, the coordinates, or anywhere you have been. Nothing about your location is sent anywhere.
When you photograph a receipt, the image is read on your own device by software downloaded into the app. The photograph is not uploaded and does not leave the phone.
There is one exception, and only if you choose it: you may add your own Anthropic API key in Settings for more accurate reading. If you do, the receipt image is sent to Anthropic for that purpose alone, under your key and your account with them. Remove the key and this stops.
The voice assistant converts speech to text using the facility built into your phone or browser. The interpretation of that text happens on the app server, and the text is not stored after your request is answered. Recordings are never kept.
CarE has a free plan and a paid plan called Pro. If you subscribe, the payment is taken by the app store you installed from — Google Play — under your account with them. CarE never sees, handles or stores your card details.
What the app is told is the outcome: whether a subscription is active and the date it runs to. That is what unlocks the paid features. To cancel, use the subscriptions section of your app store account; the paid features stay open until the date you have already paid for.
If a subscription lapses, nothing you have logged is deleted or hidden. The record stays yours and stays readable — you simply cannot add beyond what the free plan allows.
CarE is meant for vehicle owners and is not directed at children under 13. Accounts are not knowingly created for them.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
